“discovery of Gomutra Silajit from South India”

چکیده
Locally, Gomutra Silajit is known under the name “RAKTAMANDALAM”. Literally, it means ‘Blood Patch’ or ‘Blood coloured Matter’. In fact, the Ayurvedic texts refer to its colour as that of ‘Japakusuma’ – the China Rose, botanically known as Hibiscus rosasinensis Linn. (Telegu: Mandara). For this reason the local name referring to its colour as ‘Rakta’ (Blood) is apt. The above treatise also indicate the presence of GOLD in the rocks which exudes Gomutra Silajit. According to certain recent studies, excretion of Gomutra Silajit has been linked with the occurrence of latex bearing, xerophytic Euphorbia bushes in that area. Botanical exploration of the revealed the presence of not only Euphorbia bushes confirming the earlier observations but also some other resin and gum yielding trees such as Boswellia serrata Roxb. Ex Colebr. (Sanskrit: Shallaki; Telegu: Andugu), Commiphora caudate (Wt. et. Arn.) Engl. (Telegu: Konda ravi, Metha mamidi), Sterculia urens Roxb. (Sanskrit: Kateera; Telegu; Yerra Poliki), Anogeissus latifolia (Roxb. Ex. DC.) Bedd, (Sanskrit: Dhava; Telegu: Tiruman, Yelama) etc. which need attention.

Surface ozone (SOZ) can be very harmful if it exceeds the threshold limit. It can accumulate over sea and can return back to the land along with the breeze. Rural and vegetation rich areas often record elevated levels of surface ozone because of the variations in Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) levels, wind velocity and direction. Similarly methane is also an important greenhouse gas and plays ...
